This campaign reestablishes for me my deep down core beliefs that people don’t turn way from domestic violence because they don’t care but because they don’t know what to do. There are people in the community who do know how to help and support, so just to provide the link for that woman is life saving information for every person to have. I think it’s doing great things, and I think it will continue to do so.

Good morning Marcie,
I too was moved by witnessing employers, service agencies, politicians and the public in general coming together to express publicly their commitment to end men’s violence against women. Goodwill Industries Ontario Great Lakes among them !
Learning about the impact of violence against women, witnessing the courage and wisdom of women who free themselves from so much oppression and witnessing that communities care, is truly the source of our inspiration.
Thank you for your continued commitment to work with us!

I tried to contact my local women's centre but one of the volunteers is friends with my husband and she told him. He fits into every criteria you have listed on your site. Now I have nowhere to turn.

Good morning,
I am assigned to the Family Violence Resource Unit and deal domestic violence cases on a daily basis. Part of our service involves community outreach and education.
The neighbours friends and families information sheets are an excellent resource and I have used them in the past dealing with diverse communities etc.
Is it possible to order these forms ? If so, I would like to make arrangements to order the forms in all of the languages available.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

For physical copies, anyone can order these online through the NFF site (section "Organizers" > "Order materials online"). This will bring you to the Service Ontario site. Simply create an account with them for free (very quick and simple). Then all the resources, in all of the languages, will be available at any time, free of charge. Order as many as you need, as often as you need. You should receive your order promptly (normally a couple of days).
Links to all the brochures and safety cards can be found in electronic format on this page: http://www.neighboursfriendsandfamilies.ca/organizers/download-materials-in-other-languages.html

They see it. They hear it. They know it is wrong. But co-workers are often reluctant or unaware of how to help a friend who is living with domestic violence.
"It's just uncomfortable and lots of people just don't know what to do," explained Lee Avrahami of New Path Youth and Family Services' partner abuse program. "That's what we are trying to change by training people in workplaces to recognize the signs of violence and then what to do when they have a suspicion about a woman."

The Elisabeth Steel Reurink Award is presented to a student connected with the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women and Children who is interested in violence against women issues and plays an active role in her community. Elisabeth died in a skiing accident in March 2009. Elisabeth, daughter of Linda Steel and Brian Reurink, wrote that “Society and the world are always in need of change or fixing because as soon as we fix one problem another one arises. With every problem people have the ability and the capacity to be compassionate and reach out to help their neighbour, even if their neighbour is half-way around the world.”
The recipient of this award is Jess Rueger, a first year Social Science student at Brescia College. In between her studies Jess works and volunteers at the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women and Children (CREVAWC) at Western Education, with the Neighbours Friends and Families campaign which educates neighbours friends and families about domestic violence and offers strategies to help people in need.
Jess is also an active volunteer with Workplace Safety and Prevention Services and has been recognized for her work with that agency. She is committed to human rights, equality, justice and violence prevention issues. She is developing her skills as an advocate and is not afraid to name injustices or equality issues when she sees them.
The award was presented by Elisabeth Steel to Jess Rueger on January 26, 2012.

I wanted to take some time to sincerely thank you for including Goodwill in the presentation on Friday about family violence. I was personally moved and inspired by everyone's stories and commitments that are creating positive change in this world. I was overwhelmed by the approachable activist methods and optimistic attitude the leaders, and citizens, in this community have displayed towards the cause. I left the presentation with a renewed appreciation for this mission and personal commitment to volunteer more often.
Thank you so much Alfredo words cannot describe how much I appreciated it.
I also want to congratulate you and your team of colleagues on a fabulous "job well done"; your team is truly an inspiration.
Hope all is well, Marcie
